Draft Result Drafted in the 2009 Draft by the Houston Texans in the 5th round with the #16 pick.
The Texans take their 2nd consecutive tight end with Casey. Casey is likely a best player available type pick here whose versatility will earn himself a roster spot. Has the potential to develop into a good receiving tight end if he can get an opportunity in a crowded tight depth chart.

Strengths Former minor league baseall player who is coming out more because of his age, 24, than his overall talent. That said Casey had a breakout sophomore season catching 111 passes for 1,329 yards in Rice's spread offense. Recieving tight end/h-back who runs good routes and displays good hands Impressive versatility as witnessed by playing 7 positions in a game vs. Southern Mississippi as a freshman. In the game he rushed for 39 yds (1 TD), threw an interception, caught 2 passes and made 2 tackles for loss. Overall, he has nice sleeper value and could climb with a good combine workout.

Weaknesses Needs to improve as a blocker and does he possess the speed to be a threat down the seam.
