Brian Cushing is an excellent fit for the Texans at SLB and will be a strong physical presence on the defense. The Texans are putting together a top defense with playmakers at every level.

Strengths A three year starter for Southern Cal with experience playing as DE and OLB. Versatilie athlete who can play inside or outside. Has good size and athleticism. Above average speed. Excellent awareness and anticipation. Strong blitzer with a wide array of pass rush moves. Best position may a 3-4 OLB. In a 4-3 he will fit best as a strong side backer. An natural football player.

Weaknesses Had some injury issues during his career. Had problems with knee and hamstring last season. Still learning how to play the run as a linebacker. Not esp. comfortable in coverage. Will Cushing be penciled in a 3-4 player only? His versatility does leave one wondering if he has a true position. His skills may translate best as a defensive end but has a linebackers body.
